Adopt A Park Program
The City is looking for people interested in becoming more involved with its Adopt-A-Park program, which gives businesses, non-profit organizations, families, volunteer groups and individuals an opportunity to take an active role in the maintenance and improvement of some of its more visible public parks and green spaces.
If you can help out or would like additional information on the City’s beautification efforts, please call the City Engineer’s office at 879-6758. Planting dates and work schedules are currently being developed.
Eagle Scout Service Projects
Many boys that are working towards completion of the Eagle Scout Award have done service projects coordinated by the Parks Department. These projects have benefited the community by beautifying the parks or helping the environment. Through planning, organizing work crews, and following through to a successful completion of the projects, the scout has proven his leadership ability. Some of the projects done in the past include:
- Boulevard tree plantings
- Park tree plantings
- Bench and seating area improvements
A scout needing to do a service project should have an idea of what he wants to do. Then, he can propose his plan to the City Engineer, Caleb Peterson, at (218) 879-6758. Projects must meet approval from the City and troop before being authorized to proceed.
