Permit Inspection Request

• Call (218) 879-3347 to schedule an inspection with 24 hour advance notice expected, or email permitworks@cloquetmn.gov  Re-inspection fees may be charged is the work is not ready at the time of scheduled inspection, this doesn't apply to re-inspection required as a result of needed corrections.

• Electrical Permit (Building Official checks for Electrical Sticker)
  The electrical plan is submitted to the State. All electrical permits are inspected and the Electrical Code is enforced by the State Electrical Inspector, James Bjorklund, who can be reached at (218) 590-0861. Electrical permits and forms can be found at the Minnesota Department of Labor & Industry or by calling (651) 284-5064.

Utility Permits

• New Water/Sewer Service and/or Taps (Water Crew inspects utility projects at the main or in the R.O.W.)
• WLSSD Sewer Capacity Availability Fee (CAF)  A CAF will be added to every Plumbing Permit where a new connection is made to the sanitary sewer system for new construction, or where remodeling of a building results in an increase of wastewater flow to the sanitary sewer system.  The CAF is a requirement of the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD) who has set the basic CAF at $940 for a single family residence, based upon an average sewage flow rate of 260 gallons per day.  City staff will request a CAF determination by WLSSD for all commercial, industrial and multi-family building projects and this will require the submission of building floor and plumbing plans.  The CAF will be paid to the City of Cloquet as a surcharge on a Plumbing Permit.
